Asnake Asnake aka Abi (aged 7) was found living on the streets about three years ago dressed only in an adult sized t-shirt down to his knees. His father is disabled and his family can't afford to look after him. He has been at the home for the past three years and has a completely gorgeous smile. He also loves to talk. A lot.
Darota Darota (aged 10 possibly) wants to be a teacher when he grows up. He comes from a big family and his parents don't work so they struggled to provide enough food for all the family. He has a very spirited approach to learning and loves to be finished first. He loves bikes and motorbikes and his favourite foods are cake and chocolate.
Dawit Dawit (aged 6... possibly) is the newest addition to the home, only arriving in mid Novermber. He is most probably the youngest and has a charming smile, currently with no front teeth. He struggled a wee bit at first with learning new things but in the last few days of November things suddenly seemed to click for him. He loves singing and wants to be a soldier when he grows up.
Gethun Gethun (aged 9) is one of the older kids and quite the comedian. He was found three years ago at a local feeding centre virtually living on the streets. His English is fantastic. He wants to be a scientist when he gets older.
Haylemarem Haylemarem (aged 9) used to live with his parents and rent out bicycles. All money he made went to buy food for his family. He is quite shy but also quite smart and keen to learn whatever he can. He likes planes and cake and wants to be a doctor when he grows up.
Haymanot Haymanot (aged 7) is very affectionate and fun-loving. She likes cake and biscuits and wants to be a doctor when she grows up. Her enthusiasm for the photography project meant she was one of the most confident 'models'.
Hiwot Hiwot (aged 7) is one of the shyest children but also one of the sweetest. Her father died of HIV two years ago and she had looked after her baby sister until she arrived at the home. Apparently she had quite a tough home life. She likes chocolate and wants to be a doctor when she grows up.
Mentesenot Mentesenot (aged 7) likes pineapple and playing with balls. In class, he loves to be finished first... although this means he is often wrong. His English conversation skills are great though and he has a delightful smile. His images are really impressive and it was hard to narrow his selection down to the best few.
Metiku Metiku (aged 9) was found begging on the streets three years ago. He can speak English better than his school teacher apparently. He really got into the photography... taking his time to line things up and be very precise coming away with some really gorgeous photographs.
Muleken Muleken (aged 6) is one of the smallest kids but despite this used to work as a porter (carrying stuff from place to place) to earn money for his family. He is a gentle and quiet soul whose confidence and ability has improved remarkably over the month of November. He is a complete perfectionist and wants to be a policeman when he grows up.
Nardos Nardos (aged 9) used to live with his family but spend most of his time on the streets. He has a really cheeky smile that means he can get away with more than he probably should. His favourite things are oranges and planes and he wants to be a teacher when he grows up.
Sosina Sosina (aged 7) has the most delightful personality and gorgeous smile. She has a really expressive face that you can't help but be charmed by. Her favourite foods are apples and macaroni and she wants to be a car driver when she grows up. She showed a natural eye for composition and loved taking pictures.
Surafel Surafel (aged 7) is by far the smartest child in the home and also one of the kindest. He used to live with his family and work as a porter to help make money to buy food for his family. His father is blind so the family struggles to support all his brothers and sisters. His big grin and outgoing personality along with his intelligence means he pretty much excels at whatever he does.
Tariku Tariku (aged 6) was sent out to beg on the streets from the age of four to support his family. He has a great sense of humour. Although one of the youngest he is always looking out for the others. He would like to drive a motorbike and help his mother when he grows up.
Woynishet Woynishet (aged 8) is gentle and calm and has a lovely soul. She is one of the smartest kids and picks most things up really easily. She is often looked up to as a bit of a leader and she loves reading.
Zalelem Zalelem (aged 7) loves life. He is constantly smiling and is always a complete joy to be around. He used to play on the streets a lot honing his gymnastics skills which are quite impressive. He has proved to be one of the best photographers of all the bunch with a natural eye for composition... even saying at one point he'd like to take photos when he grows up.
